SCHOOL REFECTORY

THE JOHN LYON SCHOOL

A bold new refectory has been designed as a focal point on a school campus that contains a number of historic buildings. The relationship with adjoining buildings and external spaces has been carefully considered in order to maintain the special character of the school.

The new refectory  provides a coffee shop and self-service catering facility in a structure with a high degree of glazing, to allow views over a multi-level courtyard. The high degree of transparency contrasts with other traditional buildings and is intended to make the facility visually accessible and encourage interaction between students.
